Liner notes

Always somewhere between product and engineering, with a soft spot for all things technical. During my career I've worked on a variety of products, in a variety of roles. I've learned the importance of a great product or platform, the advantages and drawbacks of technology, and how ideas can become a working solution. I thrive on passion and a fast-moving environment.

o2o Bicycle Leasing

Leading the Technology team · since 2024

I lead the Technology team building the platform behind Belgium's biggest and most advanced bicycle leasing company. I build skilled teams that work on best practices and self-empowerment, and I drive the strategic initiatives.

Experience

  1. A1o2o Bicycle Leasing · TechnologySee above.
  2. A2Citizenlab · Principal Product ManagerImproving the product step by step, with a pragmatic approach to product management, so governments can excel in citizen participation.
  3. A3Aaqua · Senior Product ManagerJoined an ambitious social media startup that never found product-market fit. Met great people, saw a lot of flawed ideas. Fun, interesting, and a real lesson in why you can't keep building without user or market validation.
  4. A4Bothrs · Product ManagerDesigning, validating, building, launching and iterating digital products with customers like Telenet, UCB, Belfius, Proximus, Colruyt, House of HR and DSV. Cross-functional teams, short tracks of a few weeks, and the motto "getting started is more important than being right".
  5. B1Prompto · Product ManagerThe only product manager in a company of about 30, on a platform that helps real estate developers sell with a virtual, personalised experience. Built on Unreal Engine, web tech and cloud rendering. A good exercise in finding product-market fit with three very different kinds of users.
  6. B2Teamleader · Developer → Product ManagerA front-row seat at a fast-growing startup: Seed to Series C, 200 to 5,000 customers, 10 to 200 people. Started as a developer, grew into engineering leadership (a short stint as CTO), then moved to product: platform strategy, a new API and integration marketplace, and data-driven business cases and prototypes.
  7. B3Orca Solutions · ConsultantDeveloper, analyst and project manager for banking, government and private clients. Built Kwandoo, a childcare product used in 70+ schools and 6 cities, from scratch; learned to say no to clients and to shape a product so it scales.
  8. B4Before thatStudied Computer Engineering in Ghent and dropped out after two years, because building my own web projects was more fun. Then two years as a web developer at Tidi Solutions, who let me keep learning on real projects.

For me, product is about

  • understanding and shaping the vision
  • gathering data, qualitative and quantitative, to validate assumptions
  • following a strategy instead of filling a backlog
  • high outcome with low output
  • decisions on rational conclusions, with a light touch of gut feeling
  • enabling the team to understand and create

Building, 2026 edition

These days I build again, a lot. I've embraced AI-first systems: software designed with models and agents as real users, not a chatbot bolted on. That's why Gigmeister and OpenNord can be used by AI agents as easily as by people.

I also run my own infrastructure end to end, from hosting and data to monitoring, and I still like a good architecture discussion: events, APIs, services and where things should run.
